Backstory: I like this girl that I have known for about a year now via school. Besides a 1 week field studies class and a few social interactions outside of school I haven't really "hung out" with this girl.

3 weeks ago I sat down next to her at school and told her "You should come to Mikeys(a restaurant) on friday, I like when you come to hang out". She came to Mikeys where I was already seated with a few friends.

She sat down and the first thing that came out of her mouth was "What do you want to do after college?" Before I could even make conversation on the topic she proceeded to heckle me for my dreams of owning a pot farm. Feeling a bit flustered by her remark I kind of ignored her and talked to my other friends.

Fast forward to last tuesday, class has just gotten out. My goal was to invite her to Christmas shop with me that Sunday. As I made my approach she was stopped by the teacher and they proceeded to have a conversation. So, I decided I would walk around the building once and see if they were still there. Sadly, they both were gone and I missed my opportunity. I decided I would try the same tactic next Tuesday.

Fast forward to today. Today before class I found out that my best friend likes this girl as well. I went into class and didn't ask the girl to go Christmas shopping with me. I did however hold a conversation with her after class but it was short because I had to run to do a project for another class.

I was so close to asking her but with the knowledge that my best friend really likes her I chickened out.

So... I'm coming to you asking how I can go about this without making my friend mad but still getting the girl?

TL;DR - I'm a pussy.
