It's always possible to approach women in groups, don't let that deter you. It sounds like you have an opportunity to bring value to both groups of men and women by connecting them to each other. "Hey you should come eat with us, I have some guys you should meet." Just keep at it. Typically in high school, girls have more social skills than guys, so interact with them, develop your skills, and show them you aren't one of the clumsy, awkward guys.

Also in high school, just be the first to talk to them. You'll find all the others will follow after. Once it becomes the norm, isolation is pretty easy. People are eating out at one place. On the way change mind and get one to join ya.

Oh also, as someone 2 years out of high school: unless you shit on someones face, people forget all the awkward stuff you do in high school. Or if they don't it just becomes funny. So if you're at a party or if you're thinking of hosting a party just do it. Do everything and own it.

It'll break you from the wierd social hierarchy that develops in the lunchtime social groups. I dunno exactly what your highschool is like but as long as you join some kind of semi-social team or club you'll meet cool guys and hot girls and that will see you as an equal if you are self-confident.

edit: sorry that wasn't very cohesive advice but if you're actually interested in more pm me. I went through an interesting hs transition. I didn't hit puberty till like senior which stymied my confidence with girls. I was always the funny guy but never the hot guy right. But once I got there i started going to parties and getting involved in shit and girls started seeing me as more than just funny.
