Skip the wing stuff for now. You'll end up being more worried about what he's doing or saying rather than your intent. I used to do this in bars/clubs and it ended up being like playing fighter pilot in a dogfight, directing the other people when to come in, leave, etc. Go solo.

I enjoy and have much more success with daygame than nightgame. Make sure to use the 3 second rule - essentially, if you see a girl, just go in. Period. Don't think, don't circle around, don't wait.

I found being direct, and non-creepy works best. Being round about, asking for directions or the time, then stating you want to take her out for coffee makes it seem like you're hiding something.

You don't necessarily have to say "Hey you're cute", but it can be a variation like "Hey, I just saw you over here and had to come introduce myself. I'm ______" If she has any intelligence, she'll know what's up.
