My kino is usually separate from my talk. At first you touch briefly, like a "move out of the way" tap and you see how they respond. Even a startle can be fine, as long as they make a kind of motion that puts them closer to you so you can touch again. Build up longer touching during unrelated conversation, especially as they are talking and especially if they are talking about something positive. If they become negative, retract the kino. If you start a long touch and they move away and don't make an indication they want to get back to being touched, then usually I drop it, forget it, tell them I was happy with that time and walk on. I know it violates Always Assume Attraction, but my time is too precious for to deal with people in a different headspace.
