How do you actually give value to people?

Non-judgmental acceptance.
Find and appreciate that which is special in them.
Be social. Know everyone. Connect people of like interest.
Be exceptional in some way.

Firstly you have to scan people's interests to understand what they might want from a person like you.

The best way to do it is to start from what you are really strong. Are you really strong in the gym? Just start talking about that and see whether the person is interested or not. Are you really strong in photography? Just casually show them a picture you've taken and ask their opinion.

When you have understood your target's need, it's time to use multithreading to locate their exact need. With multithreading I mean to open parentheses over parentheses with stories, anecdotes or data about the topic your talking about.

Doing so it will help you to understand your target's mindset, value system, what (s)he thinks and how (s) perceived the world. After you've done that, you have to position in your target's mind as the solution, as someone that can help them achieve that goal. Either telling that directly or just speaking on how you fixed the same problem to other people.

For example, the person is interested into having nice pictures for their wedding? You can just say "oh really? I love to take that type of photos. This ones are from my last marriage. I'll give you some hints on how to understand if a photographer is valuable for the job if you want". Or just show them the pictures and comment them.

Obviously the more your knowledge is vast and detailed, the more value you can offer, the more people will connect to you. The only "problem" is not to feel bad since most of them just want to use you (mostly for free). You have to be good to take what you want while you give value, otherwise you'll just end up losing time, energy and money.

First of all though you have to build your value in different areas in order to have something actually to give. Otherwise it will be though. Remember though that your time is valuable too.

So if you don't have any value, any skills, nothing.. but you have a lot of free time, you can exchange that for knowledge, money, or something else.

Give the perception that you are better than them. Have a busy social life, passionate about work/hobbies, show mental/life stability.
