Do not get too personal with your talks. Quick banter will be enough and set up the get together. Another note: Do not invest more than she invests because if you are texting long ass texts and she is responding one word texts then it does not makes too much sense at all. Good luck.

Most people suggest only using texting for logistics, which works but to me is impersonal and playing it safe.

I always go by the rule of thumb of letting them set the pace of communication. Generally, if you're not reaching out that often she's going to get curious (which works in your favor) and reach out on her own to see whats up.

Naturally, you don't want her to assume there's no interest on your end so try to more or less match her consistency of texting/making conversation. Don't do lame shit like time yourself in between texts and all of that stupid stuff, but rather just text her as often as she texts you.

Lastly, while I recommend reaching out from time to time in between seeing one another don't just send "Hey, what's up". If you have nothing of any value to share then you're reaching out simply out of need to communicate (this need can very well be sub-concious and you're reaching out without even thinking about it)

TL;DR - Don't be afraid of reaching out, let her set the pace of communication, and don't reach out for the sake of simply reaching out. Have something funny to share like a meme, picture, story etc. With that, generally try to keep anything lengthy/good for in person.

Edit; As far as reaching out while she's at school, probably best if you let her initiate. As you said, she's doing exams so she's probably going to be pretty busy or wiped out when she isn't in school. She will be in touch if she wants to.
