I work at an ice cream place, and while most girls come in with boyfriends on dates at least once a day one comes in with friends or by herself. I always struggle with how to approach her or escalate to more than the average what can I get for you and that will be $3.85. Perfect example today was a nice looking HB8 in some tiny whit shorts came in today. My coworker saw her and told me to go help her and talk to her (trying to help me out) I went out there and just choked I didn't know a casual way to transition into convo with her. This isn't just her, this is all customers. Anyways she gave me a couple signs that have me just punching myself in the head here. She was just smiling and laughing with me. I normally tell all the customers to have a great night or whatever and this time she said it first so I responded as usual with "you do the same" or something like that. She then followed up with a glance and said "bye" which I thought was odd because it was like hesitating to leave? and saying goodbye twice? I feel like if I said nothing the whole time that was the perfect time to get a quick 60 second chat in and go for a number or something, but I just have no idea what I'm doing. I am going to beat myself in the head for this one all night but give me some help so maybe I can do better next time? thanks.
