I understand that the guy is supposed to lead at the beginning of any relationship, but this obviously puts us at a disadvantage when it comes to not seeming needy. How often are you supposed to reach out?

I went on a first date with a girl last Thursday, second date was this Tuesday (described here). We haven't been in contact since then, and at our date Tuesday she mentioned she had a friend visiting for the weekend. I'm thinking of hitting her up tomorrow to see if she's free Sunday - is that jumping the gun? The problem is that we've already been on two weekday dates and I figure it'll be hard to escalate further if the third one is on a weekday too. This girl works really long hours at a high profile job and definitely seems like more of the nice, wholesome type... I actually did invite her over after the first date but she effectively declined.

So how do you continue moving things along without seeming overbearing? Everyone talks about "calibration" but every girl is different... what are the signs to look for that would suggest you've gone either too slow or too fast?
