Canned push/pulls are just fine, but I'm working on my congruence. When I do the push portion of the push/pull, my mind screws up two elements of the push.

1) It sometimes has the habit of going into a weird direction (I probably spend too much time on reddit).

and the bigger problem, which I'd like to ask the community about...

2) I push too hard. My mind's first instinct is to go nuclear. Like I want to push about a girl's makeup and the first thought is something like "You'd be perfect for clown playboy"

TL;DR When you do push/pull on the fly, how do you not push so hard you insult them too much?
