The thing with touches is, it can come off as very mixed. For myself, if I look back I cringe at early attempts to touch a girl. But these touches are nothing concrete in her mind. You'll get better. At first you're kind of just awkwardly throwing things out that may not vibe with her. If you kiss her, it's a very clear sign of, "hey, I'm attracted to you". If she doesn't want a second date, there's no ambiguity that it may be because she doesn't think you're into her.

I wouldn't worry about rejection from a kiss. I've probably kissed like 50ish girls, and never been straight up rejected. But there certainly have been some lack luster reactions. If you sense that the reaction was lackluster, I wouldn't throw it away yet. Teenagers are awkward. Maybe she was afraid of that. Maybe it was her first kiss and she didn't know what she was doing. I'd ask her on another date and if she gives a non positive response just leave it at that. At this point you can be satisfied in your attempt at least.
