You can't.

You cannot keep anyone from thinking anything they want about you, no matter how wrong or misguided it might be.

People are free to think you are a creep, and an asshole, and there isn't a thing you can do to stop that.

Be honest, and let the chips fall where they may. The sooner you learn that in life, the better.

While the above is certainly accurate and the most helpful advice, here is some practical stuff too:

Get better at communication!!! You should be talking both about what you want, as well as what she wants and expects from you pretty much from the start. If she has troubling vocalizing her expectations, then you need to press on her to come up with some answers.

If you think that type of situation might come up, bring it up with the girl. Let her know you really enjoy her company, but if she is going to be hanging out socially then you'll be talking to other girls. Let her get emotionally prepared for it, or at least she can avoid the situation in the first place.

Talk about everything, especially the uncomfortable stuff. It is way better to get it out of the way in private than have something unexpected happen in front of 3 other people like what happened, right?
