So I have this problem where I make great first impressions, I have almost no approach anxiety so I just go out and spread ammo. I'll give 'em a firm handshake, a genuine smile and there starts the rollercoaster. Jokes, confidence, wittiness, everything.
For some reason though, the great vibes fall off pretty quickly. Next time I meet the person I'm somehow self-sabotaging, unenthusiastic, slow in my brain and all the bad stuff. This applies to non-sexual counters i.e. making friends too. Whenever there's a group of friends creating itself (that maybe even I created), I am ALWAYS the one left out.
People laugh at each other's jokes and keep eye contact with themselves, never with me however.
For example at university I went up to this girl who wore a pullover that showed me we had a shared interest. Went up to her, had great vibes, she was really into it etc. Next week we meet again, we build up great vibes again so I told her quite literally "hey Jenny(replacement name), I really like you! Let's go on a date" and she smiled, but since then everything went dead. Still meet her and her group of friends every week for class though, since I made friends with the rest of her group and they're quite cool (all girls, but HB5s and lower), but yet again, I feel hella left out and my liveliness and general mood dropped to the cellar.
Now I know all the stuff about outcome independance and moving on, which is what I've been doing - however, for the last 10 or so times. And I'm not talking about just approach, I'm talking about attempts to make long-lasting friendships with a tight-knit group of friends. It just never happens. And I don't know what the deal is...
Could anyone help?
I got hobbies (dancing, fitness, reading, video games, fashion) and my head didn't drop on a rock. The fact I almost always have great impressions tells me I'm socially not completely inept either.
Does anyone have tips? Thanks guys! :)
