my questions were:
what mindset do i need to have when i talk to her?
how to show her that i care, that I'm not some player
and she's not shallow, she liked me before the transformation i just didn't know how to escalate so i went out, improved myself and then came back. and that made her like me more the problem is that her head is filled of negative shit about me.

Your mind set should be, just be yourself. True to your own ideas, ideals and beliefs. Don't try to be something your not.
And also make sure she's not putting on a front for you, if you know her well enough, you'll know if she's being honest.
And above all, in my opinion, aim for friendship. If you get more that's a bonus, but if it doesn't go any further, having her as a friend is better than not having her at all.
