I suspect you might need some help with this. Maybe you can get some friends (non-military) who can help you realize when you're going too far. Just get into normal conversations and ask them to point out when your expressions are too far out of their "normal" mindset.

I don't really know what to tell you because I have never been in the military. But I know some people just cant get rid of that mindset, even decades later. I worked for some bosses who were ex-Navy and they actively tried to get others to play along with their bullying, they thought they were Officers and we were swabbies they could command. It was pretty horrible, and nobody could stand up to them and get them to stop since they ran the business.

Downthread, one guy says to consider whether your words are meanspirited before you say them. I'm not sure that's going to be a full solution, because there will be times when you just blurt out what has become natural to you, without thinking.

There are probably services for ex-military (wherever your military is) that help guys with problems adapting back to civilian life. You might want to find those services and see if you can get their help. They probably see your issue a lot.
