This is a bit of a weird thing to describe, but often when I greet someone and I'm not already in "social mode," like I unexpectedly pass by someone at work, my words come out too quiet. I often feel like if I had time to clear my throat and anticipate it, and I hadn't just been sitting silent at my desk for the past couple hours, it would have been fine.

It's not a big deal except for I don't like how it feels when a small voice comes out of me. I feel like it happens to other people too, because i get a lot of whispered, shy-sounding greetings from otherwise sociable people.

As a side note, I was a super quiet kid who had trouble making myself heard, so even in my 30s I still make an effort to compensate, and I always speak plenty loud when talking otherwise (not too loud though).

Has anyone successfully conditioned this out of them?
