I've always mumbled and talked through my teeth, tripped over my tongue, and generally it was always a gamble as to whether I would be able to actually communicate my words clearly.
This led many to ask me to frequently repeat myself and in some cases I would fuck up a word so badly I would give up or laugh at myself but deep down felt like a buffoon. It gives the impression that you're nervous when you're not necessarily either.
A few months ago I started including vocal enunciation exercises in my morning routine (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Qjr9nWh5cU these plus a few others including reading aloud with a pen between your teeth and a vocal intonation exercise) - the clarity is quite immediate but then fades throughout the morning as your speech reverts to the normal sloppy shit - however over time the benefit is accumulating. I've also managed to almost get rid of a lisp I've had all my life.
A few days ago for the first time in my life someone complimented my speech (albeit a teacher) but the difference is noticeable in every interaction - I no longer fear stumbling over everything that comes out of my mouth.
In the context of courtship it can be hard enough to think of WHAT the fuck to say (although many people will tell you it doesn't really matter) so removing difficulties around the delivery can give you an enormous peace of mind - plus it can cause you to appear more educated/classy/engaged in the conversation.
It helps in every context from job interviews and presentations to debates or arguments with friends.
I'd say it's almost as important as developing and warming up social skills, if you're someone who has issues with your speech/voice.
Can anyone relate?
