Alright fuckers, here's the deal. I've got a fairly complex question, but don't worry your pretty little heads. I'll try to keep it shorter and sweeter than a sugar coated Tinkerbell.

I've developed one magnificently putrid case of "oneitis" for a girl that I've become increasingly involved with over the past few months. It has gotten to the point where have unconsciously weened myself off of approaching and didn't much care to see other people.

The entire case was only exacerbated over the past week when she turned cold on me and reached its fever pitch when I saw her last night with another dude. (Again, don't worry your pretty little heads. I kept it cooler than an English bulldog on ice skates. Although it was difficult to do and honestly hurt quite a bit.)

Needless to say, I realized my level of investment was uneven and frankly unhealthy. I'm working on mitigating the influence this girl has over me by seeing other people and doing more approaches. As of now, I have no grounds to stop seeing her because exclusivity was never expressed and because I was the one in the wrong. I plan to back off completely until I can take her down from my pedestal then possibly re initiate contact with her after I've done so.

However! the issue got me thinking. Is it even worth proceeding with a girl you developed a full blown case of "oneitis" with, even after you have gotten your head straight again? or is the risk of backsliding just too high?

I'd hate to have to watch all my progress slowly sink into mud like the Barbasol can from Jurassic Park.

Anyway, thanks for hearing me out and I would appreciate getting some feedback from the lot of you.
