Hello everyone!

I am in college trying to have the time of my life, but recently I'v noticed it is really hard for me to have "small talk" with girls. This problem didn't just start, I'v definitely been trying to deal with this since I can remember. It's really hard for me to explain but it's like I run out of things to say to them and sort of answer questions very briefly, and don't elaborate into small talk like most people do.

For example I just met this girl who I'm really interested in. I had her number for awhile and one day I just chose to text her. We made plans and went to party. This was the first time I hung out with her away from mine or her friends. We talked for a bit and danced and had fun but during this whole ordeal my brain was struggling to find something to talk to her about that I don't think is stupid or meaningless a.k.a small talk. Obviously I know small talk is not stupid and meaningless, and that it usual leads to really good conversations but I just have a hard time getting it started. I ended up losing her at the party as I had to leave and haven't talked to her since. This was just a few days ago and I want to text her again but I have no clue where to begin.

I am about to go on winter break away from my college for a month so that means going back to my hometown where I obviously wont see her for awhile. During this break I want to start texting her ASAP so she will remember me and so that when we return from winter break we can hang out again. I don't want to just talk to her and hang out with her for one day then go on a month long break and try to text her after that much time has passed when we are still getting to know each other. It would be a lot harder for me to do that and I don't want her to forget me!

What are somethings I can say to her, and in general what are some tips for me to start embracing small talk?

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope this was clear and made sense.
