Usually these general posts have a couple of specific examples/protips, perhaps you could provide some?

They may respond with the "guys are supposed to buy girls drinks", reply "I'm not your average guy, you're supposed to wow me"
I think that's a little too far. I'd say the first line as a joke, but not seriously expect for them to buy me a drink. I would give them $5 and ask them to go to the bar and grab me a beer, however. That is less arrogant but still dominant and making them work for you.
The rest of the advice is good though, thanks for the insightful post.

Girls like to be told what to do while given the illusion they are under control.
In my less than stellar experience: girls like to feel that they contributed. For example, I like to solicit them for options. "Do you know any cool bars around here? (i.e. I'm thinking of bouncing and I'm testing your interest)", "What type of food do you like (i.e. How interested are you in dinner with me)". Then I make the final decision. I don't always go with one of her recommendations but I like to make sure they feel their preference is heard. A good leader doesn't just make decisions, he listens to the opinions of the people he trusts. He realizes that everyone has good ideas and sometimes he selects the best option even if he didn't propose it.
A girl cancels the date you set up for whatever reason. You're heated, a little pissed. Are you going to go AFC on her?
I still have trouble not lashing out. Sour grapes are the worst "Fuck her, didn't really want her anyway". If I get that angry I walk away and don't say anything to her until I am well and truly cooled down.

Regarding #4: I mostly agree but it's also important to set and defend boundaries clearly and consistently. If she repeatedly flakes out, call her out on it. If she interrupts you, clearly and calmly remind her not to do that.
