Got the number of the girl who sits next to me in philosophy. I asked her for it when class ended, did not specify my intentions as it would be a little to forward to tell her I liked her. Should I just be straight forward with my first text and ask her if she's interested or should I just be casual for a bit, joke around, and hope I don't get friend zoned.

I'm planning on waiting till this class is over, about two hours, before I shoot the first text and look desperate.
