I work at a hospital as an RN and I often have patients who are nearing the end of their lives. I had a patient yesterday, an elderly man, who told me a story that really impacted me and I'd like to share. He is in his late 80s, and as we got to know each other throughout the day, I would ask him questions about his life and sought his advice. He spoke of a woman he met when he was 37 years old. He met her and instantly felt a unique connection to her. He spoke of her in an endearing way, speaking about her beauty and zest for life. Then his eyes went somber and he looked down. He said that he never got the courage to ask her out and has always wished that he had. This was 50 years ago and he still regrets, not the opportunities and risks he did take, but the ones that he did not. Let this be a lesson to us all. TL;DR Met a man who regrets not asking a woman out 50 years ago. Take a chance and go ask her out.
