Since Christmas Eve falls on a Monday this year, I figured I could use the long weekend to my advantage by doing an experiment of going out every night. I went out on Friday and Saturday, without any success, and was out at the bars again on Sunday with my wingman.
The bar/club street that I typically go out to on the weekends was kind of dead and a lot of the venues were closed, but there was one club that had a medium sized crowd (about 100 people all told) that we decided to try out. I approached a couple of sets, but they died out after a bit, and it felt like we'd talked to all the sets that were easy to talk to (non-coed groups). It was 11:30 PM, and my friend and I debated bouncing to another venue. He suggested we at least stay until midnight, which was the right decision.
I'd been eyeing this one girl from this two-set standing near us at the bar, but since we didn't make eye contact more than once, I figured she wasn't interested. As I'm talking to my friend, her friend comes up to us and starts talking to us. Turns out that the girl I'd been eyeing, "Lauren" was into Asian guys and had wanted me to talk to her. Lauren was 22 and a college student -- I'd rate her at about a 7.
I tell them to come over to the bar, and we chat for a bit, and I find out that they've already ordered an Uber to another club. I'm like, let's just all go there together, and we pile into the car together.
My wingman and I are excited that things seem to be going somewhere tonight, but when we get to the next club, it's completely dead, and the music is way too loud to make a conversation possible. I know I have to figure out a solution so after thinking for a minute, I suggest we Uber out to some bars near my neighborhood.
At the bar we end up at, my wingman talks to Lauren's friend, and I get some alone time with Lauren. The conversation is friendly and fun, but it lacks any sexual tension, and I find myself getting bored with talking to the girl. Moreover, my friend seems to be further along with his girl than I am with mine, so I'm thinking that to Lauren it looks like we're not getting on that well together. While the girls are momentarily away, I talk to my friend about it and tell him I want to just get this girl's number and go home to sleep because I don't think anything's gonna happen, but he's like, "Well, let me finish my beer at least."
We end up staying until close (2:00 AM), and I figure nothing's gonna happen so I tell the girls that my friend can drive them home (they live on the other side of town), but we have to Uber back to my house first (because my friend's car is parked in my driveway). When we get back to my friend's car, I say goodbye to the girls, and then go into my house and literally just go to bed.
Here's the hilarious part, my friend literally calls me while I'm in bed and tells me the girls want to come into the house. I quickly put on my clothes to let everyone in. They're like, we have to go to the bathroom, and while they're in there, my friend tells me that Lauren had actually wanted me to take her back to my place, and was surprised that I hadn't invited her inside.
When the girls get out of the bathroom, I invite Lauren upstairs on a tour of the house, and then while we're in my bedroom, I invite her to watch some Youtube videos in my bed. She's like "sure," and we actually watch a couple of Youtube videos together. I realize this was the stupidest tactic ever and just close the laptop and lean over to kiss her. Things went where you'd expect them to go after that.
Anyway, looking back on the night, I realized I made so many mistakes: not talking to the girls in the first place, assuming that the conversation with Lauren wasn't going anywhere, not even trying to invite the girls back to my place, and also trying to come up with an excuse to get Lauren into bed (watching Youtube videos), when I knew she was already dtf.
But I did make one good choice that made up for these mistakes: I went out in the first place. Anyway, this experience has really made me realize that you have to press to make things happen, and let the girl decide to reject you and not automatically reject yourself.
TLDR: Picked up a college student at a bar and got laid despite not having a great conversation and failing to invite her back to my place.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
