i wish this stupid biological urges would just go away. i feel like i would rather get rid of the desire to find a partner, than i would finding a partner. can the desire be removed from our thoughts? can we master our minds?

finding a partner is all i can think about. its so stupid. these instincts are part of our dna, we can get rid of them, but it takes alot of work. it is something all humans have, except asexuals.

its pretty frustrating. our entire lives are built around finding someone to have sex with. for me its a major preoccupation. i am always thinking about meeting someone, talking to girls, all this stupid bs. that i dont really care about rationally, i only care about them instinctually. and yet, i have these urges that are driving my thoughts and behavior, that my rational mind is telling me are stupid.

its like my mind is constantly thinking about sex. my libido is taking over my life. i cant find a partner so i am always thinking about what i can do to find someone. and it seems like it will never happen. i would like to lose my sex drive all together so i wouldnt have to deal with this stupid biological instincts that wont go away. i dont want my life to be controlled by instinctual desires. I think the buddhist monks who give up all human desires are pretty awesome. they dont let the mind and behavior be controlled by libido.

Monks work on ending this enslavement by conditioning and leading a noble life. The pressures which presumably make masturbation/sex seem advantageous are part of the conditioning which Buddhism seeks to understand and subordinate.

When we tame our own minds through meditation, we have the capability to recognize all our addictions, and see when it is right to abstain. It is possible to live without pursuing sexual pleasure, whether with others or alone. I don't think a masturbation habit necessarily reduces the urge to be promiscuous or sexually unethical. It might do so in the short-term--if you're going into a situation where you'll be tempted and you masturbate before you go, you might better be able to control the momentary impulse. But masturbation doesn't stop us from mentally fixating on desires, from treating people as sexual objects, from pursuing inappropriate sexual partners.

But in living the life of a monk or nun, say in Buddhist tradition, you are to become unattached to worldly things, desires, and your physical body is part of that. The DESIRE to feel sexual pleasure is something you must let go of also. It is silly to ask "can monks" or "is it OK too" when you should be asking is it right? because when it comes down to it, you could be even a catholic monk and masturbate and no one would know but you. You would have to live with your decision. So, the question is, is it right?
