i have a few things i do in pretty much all the approaches that just work, and work every time to separate me from other guys and to build rapport. Here's one:

few minuets in and if the conversation is flowing i'll say:

"hey you're actually really cool. you remember when we were kids and all it took was a note. check yes to be my friend. Nowadays its.. who do i know that you know? is your zodiac sign compatible with my zodiac sign? its so hard to find cool people in (your city here) as a grownup!"

That conversation is going on in pretty much everyone head, i'm just tapping into it, and that makes her believe i "understand" her. I usually get the "he's a cool guy" stamp after this weapon is unloaded.
