The boys and myself make an entrance to the beach throwing a rugby ball around. I charge right into the water until waist level and walk back out to the beach, and let everyone know how the water is. A man calls us out for being obnoxious; I walk over to his area (he's with two women and a guy) and he tells me to calm down, "There's kids on the beach."
"I am calm. Do you have any kids?"
"No."
I point to his buddy's Mill Street Organic Lager. "Can you drink that on the beach?"
"Probably not."
I tell his buddy that's a good beer.
"Fuck off."
"You want me to fuck off?"
No response. One of the ladies says his name in a "come on..." tone.
"I'll fuck off."
I walk over to the water where my buddies are tossing the rugby ball and Frisbee. My buddy tells me he would beat the shit out of that guy. Looking at the floating dock out on the water, and feeling like a swim, I yell, "Race you guys there!" and swim out to the dock.
Eventually, we all make it and we're lying on the dock soaking up sun.
After some nice rest, we hear ladies swimming towards us, "We're coming over boys."
I tell my friend to pass me the Frisbee and throw it out towards them. One of the ladies throws it back and it veers to my left, away from the dock. I run, jump in, swim out, grab it, swim back, climb up, and lie down. I stretch my arm over my eyes to block the sun.
I hear them climbing onto the dock. I say, "Don't splash me, don't splash me!"
Someone steps over me and I get drops of water on me. I jokingly yell, "AW."
I hear a girl in the water say she's going to throw the Frisbee onto the dock. I yell, "Don't hit me, don't hit me!" The Frisbee hits my shin lightly. "HEY, you hit me!"
Someone from their group playfully comments on the fact I don't want to get wet or hit. I ask them where they're from, and joke about a plan to swim our keg from the camp site over to the dock. I get a laugh from everyone on the dock. I make my way to the other end of the dock, to lie down, rest, and listen to the chit chat.
One girl mentions she's about to head back. I sit up, look at their group and say, "So, what number's your camp site, girls?" My friends laugh. I get a second of silence, and quickly say, "Nevermind!"
Ten minutes later, there's a break in the chatter and I say to everyone on the dock, "What's our camp site number again? I forgot. 63? 64?" My buddy says with a laugh, "63."
My friends slowly dissipate back to the beach, and eventually, I'm left with one woman (She's 27, heard her mention earlier after she asked, "So how old are you guys?" I said 16.).
We're standing on opposite corners of the dock and make light quips to each other. She steps towards the edge, looking down at the water.
I tell her, "Dive in. Headfirst." She's nervous.
I charge full force towards her and she says, "Stop." I stop and say, "63."
She tells me her camp site number and says she might come by mine at night for a walk.
She dives, and swims away, and leaves me feeling like a boss.
I stand on the dock looking out at the beach and notice a guy with scuba gear and a little girl swimming towards the dock. They get on from a corner away from me. I'm resting up against the ladder rails, watching them. After 5 mins, I ask them, "So are you two siblings?" The guy takes off his scuba mask and it turns out he's a father. I have a chat with him about the beaches around the area and he tells me the cost of renting a canoe. I tell them to enjoy their weekend, jump back into the water, and swim towards the beach.
My friends are making their way towards a path among rocks at the side of the beach, heading towards another area. I follow them, passing by the group I encountered earlier. I hear, "HEY. You got sand on my towel." I realize I must have stepped over his towel and some sand must have knocked off my feet. I walk towards him, apologize, grab the corners of his towel, and shake the sand off. He says, "Don't patronize me."
There is an empty chair beside his wife (I found out she was his wife after chatting with them). I sit down, and ask his wife, "It's alright if I sit here?" She tells me it's their friend's chair. I tell her I'll leave when he comes back. Soon enough, a guy and his girl walk towards us. The guy stands looking over me (he's the one who told me to fuck off earlier). I extend my hand for a shake, "Leslie?" (I got the name from the wife) He shakes my hand, and says, "I'm sorry for telling you to fuck off earlier. I shouldn't have said that."
"No worries, whatsoever." I tell him.
I tell them all to have a good weekend and catch up with my buddies.
Later that night, while I'm half asleep in my tent, I hear a group walking by our site talking loudly and hear a woman mention my name. At that point, I was too high and tired to do anything, so I just fell asleep happily.
