Why do people (specifically women) act so differently online, do you think, rather than in public?
 
I don't mean online dating websites where they seem to have an advantage (or do they), but just simple chatrooms where someone messages you to talk. I've noticed people are extremely superficial online (ex. will demand to know your age, looks, other personal info and conversation many times will stop there) compared to offline this rarely happens. Things are also less fluid I feel like. Perhaps it's the obvious reason - that they are anonymous online so can freely and anonymously pursue their fantasies and interests that they probably cannot get in real life. Just frustrating that I can crack jokes to someone and not really have too many problems interacting, while chatting with someone some lazy afternoon can much more frequently lead to someone rudely telling me I'm a loser and leaving mid-sentence for no apparent reason.
