This is just a simple method I found out tonight about alleviating awkwardness.

I'm not an awkward guy by any means but tonight at work (serving) I felt like a teenager in high school.

Fumbling over my words. Losing train of thought. Asking awkward questions. Trying to join conversations at the wrong time.

I was a mess.

I even had some cute girls start talking to me, offering to buy me a shot when they came back after dinner at another restaurant.

I still felt awkward though.

Then about halfway through my shift, I had some downtime and was talking to one of my co-workers and instead of being smooth I just brought it up.

"You ever just feel awkward? Like you say stupid shit, drop stuff and are just one step behind?"

We started talking and he told me he sometimes gets that, I told him that's what I'm experiencing now.

Interestingly enough after that conversation, I no longer felt awkward. It's like it vanished.

Looking back now, I think what happened is once I realized I was awkward I tried to act smooth and ignore it but the more you ignore it, the more your attention is placed on it and then it becomes even more apparent. Whereas when I talked about it, I became comfortable with being awkward and since I was comfortable it was no longer on my mind so therefore it dissapeared.

You want to bring it up organically though, don't be complaining just make a simple statement or ask a question if they've felt the same. Don't dwell on it, just mention it see what people have to say and that's it.

The rest of the night was fine, I even ended up driving home this new girl who was definitely down for a little more than just a ride home. Horny little girl brought up sex halfway through the ride.

So if you're feeling awkward or just "off" open up about it. Hell, I could even see it being an opener.

Walk up to a group of girls and ask

"You ever feel like you're one step behind?"

"Or do you ever have days where you're just off?"

Might be something worth trying.
