I don't have the opportunity to meet people in person easily right now in my life. So I've been using Hinge and having mild success, scored a few dates and a couple hook ups but not quite the "one" or the type of girls I'm really interested in. I have some girl friends who use these apps and they are usually inundated with messages and likes, causing them to never have to actually swipe through people but instead just go through the messages and likes. So I figure I need to send messages in order to even have a chance.

To date I have over 50 chats started with girls from the past 2 months and like I said, a few dates. As for likes to my profile from girls I haven't initiated with? Literally 2. So I am under the impression that sending messages is the way to go even if that is "me coming to them". My female friends have checked out my profile and think it's pretty good and I've made some changes based on their suggestions.

My question is what do people have experience with as being the best openers? I've tried everything. Being direct, being funny, being interested in their bio, compliments etc... And there's no one thing that seems to work better than the rest.

What kind of format are people having success with? And to the women reading - which kind of messages pique your interest and most often get a response from you?
