Hey brother, a mantra that we often use in my community is that "The essence of charisma is sincerity". In effect its because feelings are difficult to fake. Humans are experts at detecting things like micro facial expressions on an almost subconcious level. (There are actually involuntary muscle movements that happen you smile sincerely that cant be recreated by faking).

My advice is to tap into how you actually feel. If the things you are doing and the people you are meeting aren't exciting you then maybe try and go places where you are truly experiencing the emotions you wish to convey.

That being said, being playful isn't the only type of successful charismatic demeanor that women find attractive. I'd urge you to find you're unique charisma. For instance, look at clips of Prince during his peak, he was rarely playful (except in purple rain when he made apollonia purify herself in the waters of a lake that wasn't minnetonka lol). He was usually shy and mysterious, soft spoken with a sexual mystique. One that is so popular its cliche is the gloomy, moody charisma of emo rockers (morrisey, robert smith, etc.) Not every style is successful in a college bar scene obviously BUT finding your true charisma and developing it will lead to more optimal outcomes then trying to fake it, which will almost fall into an uncanny valley and turn women off.

You can be earnest, you can be genuine. You don't have to be Puckish with a vulpine charisma. Remember that "Sincerity is the essence of charisma". If the sincere emotions you display aren't the attractive ones that you want to display then you're problem isn't displaying the proper demeanor, its a layer deeper than that. Hahaha I feel that one. In the past I've been called things like "robot," "boomer," and "70 year old man in a 20 year old body." The girl I'm into nearly burst out laughing when I said "What's good homie?" At work the other day.

Honestly, I think a lot of girls are into that. It's much more father-like. It also gives you the amazing opportunity to drop a room-exploding joke once in a great while because nobody ever expects it.

One more thing on being playful. If you do want to exude this type of demeanor then I think its important to understand the crux of playfulness with a girl is that there is small joke or situation that is amusing to you and it involves her. Not necessarily that she's the butt of a joke or the object of ridicule (sometimes that frame is extreme). But always keep in mind that "sincerity is the essence of charisma" if there isn't something she's done or said that you find amusing or slightly bewildering then its kind of a fool's errand to pretend there is. You can experiment with it and see what works for you. Personally i think something like showing slight amusement at a girl's accent or something might be a good place to start. Things like their physical imperfections or other sensitive topics might be too offensive especially to start out on.
