So, this is a situation I've never been in. This girl and I hit it off at a party I threw at my place and we had a really great time. A couple of days after, I text her and invited her to a Super Bowl party and she said yes; she seemed really excited about going. About three days after that, a friend of mine asked me to come swing dancing with him, but to bring a date. I ended up texting her and she said she really wanted to go, but might have to do homework.

Now, here is where things get weird.

The swing dancing date was set for a couple days before the Super Bowl party. She ended up letting me know last minute that she did have homework to do and that she couldn't go. Most of my friends thought homework was a crappy excuse and they think I shouldn't reaffirm her invitation to the Super Bowl party because "she'll think she can flake on me whenever and still have me chase her."

Are they right, or should I text her and take her to the Super Bowl party? I appreciate any feedback.
