You don't have any relationship problems. You don't have a marriage. So right now you're just mentally making yourself worried for no reason.

Once you find yourself in a relationship it's possible that you won't have any big issues, so you won't need any advice. You don't need advice until things go wrong!

Don't make yourself worried that "things will go wrong, so I need to prepare" when you have no evidence of that it will go wrong. Deal with things as they come. Solve only the problems you have.

BTW. Every relationship obviously has problems. But you won't have any idea what problems will come up until you're in that relationship. So preparing is kinda pointless.

No one can give one real answer. You don't know what a relationship needs until you're in one. I can give you some basics.

Remember to show love. As the relationship goes on and becomes routine people forget about going on dates being flirty and having fun.

The person you are/ they are changes as the relationship grows. You may have read " show love" as going on dates like you did at the beginning but now you have new jobs, you have kids, you have a house and your responsibilities have changed. This is what makes long term advice so difficult. Going on a date when you're stressed about work, they're stressed about the house, you're both stressed about the kids, it could be exactly what you need or the complete opposite.

Long term things will get boring/ monotonous. This isn't inherently bad. Sometimes you both find that you are comfortable exactly where you are. You don't always need to force things to be an event. Again, it's back to just showing love which could just be watching a show together.

The hard part isn't inherently following this, it's being with someone who also follows it. You might find that they put all their focus into work, or kids or their other personal responsibilities and you might find that you aren't getting the love you need. Communication is always good advice but like me writing this, giving advice is easy, following it is hard. Talking with them and getting them to show you love could be difficult and what it takes for them to do it could vary widely. It's one of those bridges you won't know what it needs till you cross it.

Is that really all that's important to you? That it lasts no matter what? Or that it's good while faith and destiny decides how long it has to last? Because you can easily make any woman stay long-term by being a people's pleaser and following the mantra of "happy wife, happy life" where you basically do everything she tells you.

However, doing that tends to have negative consequences in the quality of the relationship, it can cause women to lose respect for u even if she stays, it can cause u to give and and sacrifice things that u don't want to sacrifice just for her, and can cause her to stop admiring you even if she decides to stay with u out of convenience.

So you basically sacrifice quality (loss of her respect and attraction) for the sake of quantity (duration of the relationship being larger).

The alternative to this is not focusing so much on how much it lasts but on whether she is still everyday the type of wife that you are satisfied with with the way she acts around you, that she is still compatible and has not turned incompatible, etc and being willing to end things the moment she no longer is compatible. This means that a relationship could last less, but be of higher quality while it lasts.

So, be careful with saying that you want it long no matter what, because what truly matters is not how long it is, but how good it is while it lasts. If you make it lasts for a long time, but the cost of that for example is a sexless marriage and her feeling contempt from you, then do you really want that even if she decides to stay a loong time under those conditions?

I read this a while back (probably on reddit lol): Don't try to make her your entire reason for living, just make sure she is an important part of your life, your oasis. You will both have your own lives, careers, and interests, but at the end of the day, as long as you come back to each other and finally breathe, that's all that matters.
