Girl I was dating said she didn't want to drag me into her bullshit, and a couple of other things. I was an unaware idiot at the time so I just said ok and we broke up. A few weeks later I realized that she was probably seeing if I was actually into her, or just wanted to fuck her.

I don't see this specified in the rules and guidelines. The purpose of this thread was to discuss personal mistakes in applying a general technique. Is there a better way to pose this question?
I don't think saying that it causes people to lie, or exaggerate is valid, as it could be said that this whole subreddit could be accused of promoting hyperbole.
The other rule that comes close to touching this subject is that of not linking or making fun of people, but I would argue that people who post their stories are consenting to comments about their stories. If the comments are inappropriately insulting they could be dealt with.
This thread wasn't intended to be a circle jerk, but using the word "legendary" was probably a mistake.

Well we can't write rules to cover every situation. Our general rule of thumb is "bring value to seddit." This sort of thread may have some value, but that is outweighed by the nuisance it causes. sedditors try to outdo each other and it starts bickering and then trolling and then the mods have a big cleanup problem. People have even been banned over this sort of thing, and it would be better to not incite them. We have dealt with this problem repeatedly and it is just one of those things seddit does not do well. Sorry. Don't take it personally. Perhaps I could have worded my comments differently, to indicate the problem is more with seddit than with you.
If you want to start a productive discussion, I would suggest you just post your experience like an FR. It doesn't even have to be a full FR if you just want to describe the one shit test. You don't even have to phrase it as a question. People usually respond with their own experiences.
