ME: What do you like yo do?
Hmmm, this is just me, but I don't like that question.
I typically try to find ways to get themselves to start talking about themselves. I usually try finding some article of clothing, something that stands out. Sincerity is key.
For example, one time I saw this cute girl with peace sign earrings. I have one tatted on me, and this sincerely drew attention to me. I went up and said "I love your earrings! You don't really strike me as a hippie though"
Bam, huge conversation about where she got them, why she got them, what she believes in, her intuitions, how she went to Haiti in college, etc.
Do you see how that differs from your question? You generally could ask "What do you like to do" to just about anyone on the face of the planet. The whole earrings thing could only really be presented to her, or anyone else wearing those earrings. Y'dig?
The whole what do you like to do is interview type shit. It doesn't really make you stand out, or leave room for real conversation.
It kinda makes me cringe a bit, it's like the whole ....."so, do you come here often?" routine, y'know?
Hope this helps.

Sometimes women don't always want to have a deep intellectual conversation when first meeting someone. I'm not saying all women are like that, but I know I would feel creeped out if some guy started asking me in depth questions about my life. I don't know him, so I wouldn't want to go on and on about myself. You could be being too intense

I see, I get what your saying. Problem is; I struggle to enjoy meaningless conversation, without a point or depth in the topics of conversation I struggle to maintain energy in what I am talking about.
I think its the fear of coming of too childish because I am not really childish naturally, if you get what I'm trying to say.

Have you tried talking about the weather? Or just general topics? For example, What kind of food does she like to eat? What music does she enjoy? Where does she work - how was her day/what are the people like? If she's in school, what does she want to do/what is she studying?
Learn things about someone, and then you won't have to probe later on. The interesting little tidbits will come out in a normal conversation. Or, they won't be as weird to talk about later on because you won't be That Weird Guy I Just Met.

Thanks for your advice. I think I just need to approach more and not think of myself as some weird guy.
I feel like I'm not on the same wavelength as all the people in my demographic. It's odd, i feel I can communicate more effectively with people 30+, this is most definitely because at my workplace I am the only 20-something.

Best of luck. Talking a little about a lot of things can be more enjoyable than talking a lot about a couple things, if you know what I mean.

Where are you approaching girls the most? It's more likely you would find someone more compatible at a wine tasting than at some generic nightclub.
The wine tasting is just an example, but the venue is often a good indication of what kind of people you'll meet.

Plenty of fish and daygame, occasionally post work bar game. Don't really game at music events or club nights.
