No. Stop "wondering" and ask her. After a little bit of flirting just say "just curious, have you ever thought about me in anything more than a friendly way?". Whatever her response is won't make it too awkward in Europe. Also, if she says no, she means no. Do NOT interpret that as "not yet", move on.

I did, when we were walking back from her house I said
"Did you want to be anything more than friends, or did you just want to keep it casual?" to which she responded "I have thought about it more than a few times now and I love being with you and talking about stuff and hanging out, but for now I think for now just being friends friends is fine."

Since then I haven't brought it up and I'm just treating her like I would a normal friend. I'm honestly not to distraught it about, but I do think she's a pretty awesome person, and I'm super glad she's at least just my friend haha.

Wow, that's actually a pretty positive response. Is she recently out of a relationship or something? I'd be curious as to the reason she gives. If you don't know, I'd ask her about it. As long as you're not pestering her when she's given signs that she's not interested (which she hasn't done at all), then it's not weird at all to ask these things.

Yeah, she is, they broke up around the end of last school year, he was going to go into the Navy and wanted to marry her before he left. They had just graduated and she was already planning on going to Europe as well. Anyway, everything she's told me about him, well, she hasn't had anything good to say haha. They were together for about a year, and he was her first/only "boyfriend".
The whole reason any of this came up was because when we were at a coffee shop for like 5 hours I asked her if she'd consider our "hanging out" a date. The she said her previous BF had never taken her on a date, to which that got things going about that.
And by the way, she did say she'd consider that it was a date after I talked about it a bit more haha.

Seems like just a case of right place, wrong time. I'd clarify that you're interested and then just leave it. Maybe something along the lines of "it's too bad we sort of found each other at a bad time, i think you're great and i'm definitely interested. maybe one day we'll find each other again when things look a little different".

Yeah, I think that's best choice of action honestly. I might wait a while to do it though, I think I can tell that for at least the next few months she'll definitely only want to be friends. I might just try to be the cool guy who is always there until I have the chance to kiss her in the rain of Scotland or some bullshit like that haha.
And she did just text me ~30 minutes ago, so that's kinda nice I guess
