Smalltalk tips?

What I really got better at in the last year or so is just not focusing so hard on what I will say. It wasn't really a conscious change but lately when I talk to girls I am more relaxed and find myself just blurting out things that are on my mind, literally whatever, like, ''I want to go to Austria next year'' or, ''that building over there is really ugly''. Just anything that's on your mind, makes the conversation flow really well and sometimes even when they don't say anything back it shows that you have your own interests, your own mind which is busy + it kills awkwardness

Here’s an example of my small talk working out back in August (btw I don’t really approach much):

I had recently moved to a new city for a job and didn’t know many people. One night (my birthday) I was standing in line for pizza at a hipster bar around 9pm on a weeknight. A cute blonde comes up and stands behind me and I turn around and say “hey I’m line” i was obviously in line. This just kind of threw her off and she was like “I know” and looked a little confused. Then I just broke into a little Larry David style small talk messing with her saying “When I was standing right there, I was thinking am I in line? So I thought I’d tell you, to let you know this is indeed the line.” Then she smiled and said “I’m just getting a side of ranch anyway”. I said “oh go right ahead of me, if you’re just getting ranch. That’d be ridiculous of me to make you wait for me to order before you get a condiment.” She smiled and thanked me. I ended up going outside by myself watching the band and after a song or two we made eye contact and she waved for me to come over and sit with her and her friend. Long story short, after the band stopped playing she and her friend invited me and two other guys over to hangout and drink. It ended being a really weird night filled with partying and they showed me a great time for my birthday and the blonde girl’s friend gave me a lap dance lol. I didn’t close, but that little small talk/social sparring led to a random instant hang that lasted until like 3AM.

Just comment on something she’s wearing. “That’s a cute crop top thing you got going on.” She’ll say something like, “What do you mean,” or “Thanks.” From here, you can elaborate and then introduce yourself and move on to another topic. “So what brings you here,” or, “So where’re you coming from?” Learn to listen and follow along with what the woman is saying. The key here is to unfuck your mind from focusing on how cute she is. Tell yourself it’s alright to be nervous and don’t be afraid to display that. The more comfortable you are with yourself, the easier these situations will be for you to handle in the future.

Think you nailed it already. Some women are just fucking boring to talk to. I've got no problem holding convo either but sometimes the lights just aren't on. I'll start throwing out completely random convo just to see the reaction.

I got really bored with one and just started doing the same drifting off watching whatever was on tv and the girl came over sat beside me and didn't say anything. If you're dating a lot you're going to run into some that just suck at conversation.
