I’ve read this on numerous other blogs, the idea that some of the best PUAs actually smell pretty strongly - and not of cologne.

Assuming it’s true that our ancestors used to find mates based on compatible smells (see the study where guys wore the same T-shirt for a week then women chose them based on the smell), would people find better mates if they smelled more naturally? Clean and showered, but not covered in artifical smells?

Now, if you’re both going on a run or bike ride together, I’d still wear deodorant.

I’ve experienced this a few times from women - the most memorable was a farmer’s marker date in the summer with a hippie girl, who I immediately noticed smelled quite strongly like BO. But it was hugely attractive! We immediately held hands and were physically affectionate the whole time. Other times, women with a very light smell were offputting.
