The hard truth in me says that your best hope was to ask her out 4 years ago.

Honestly, your only option now is to talk to her about it. Chances are not good that she's on the same page as you, but anything is possible. I've definitely met couples whom were long time friends before anything.

Just be prepared for a change in your friendship.. It could be a great change because she wants a relationship too, or on the flip side, things might just get weird. Alternatively, if you've been silently chasing her for 4 years and she rejects you, you'll most likely put less effort into the friendship knowing it will never have the potential you've been chasing, in which case she'll notice, and then things circle back to "get weird".

Either way, life's way too short, don't wait! Do it soon. Then you can put all of your effort into her or focus on finding someone who's equally into you.
