I've never been an aggressive guy with women. I've always waited for those moments when I got a signal to make a move, whether it be a touch, or a look, or another clear indication. This weekend, I spent some time with a girl, who for all intents and purposes, seemed like an outgoing, confident woman. The thing is, upon reflection, I realized that she really wasn't. I waited and waited for her to indicate to me that she wanted me to make a move on her, and she did, it was just in such a subtle way that I missed it because I was looking for those clear signals that I was used to.
What I realized is, if a girl lets you into her space or she comes into your space, you're in good shape. If a girl is smiling, and engaging and laughing, you're in good shape. If a girl lets you touch her (arms, legs, back, even hands) and doesn't recoil or pull away, you're in good shape. If a girl is touching you, you're in good shape. At this point, it's a pretty clear indicator that she wants you to be physical with her. Some girls are so shy, or so used to the guy being the aggressor, they do little to nothing to indicate that they want you to make a move on them. This doesn't mean that they don't want you too, they are just too scared to show it. If you take the initiative, you will reap the benefits.
This might be common knowledge, but based on some talks with friends today, it's not necessarily top of mind for most men. A lot of guys are afraid to be the aggressor in those situations, whether it be because of fear of rejection, or fear of making the situation awkward, or fear of making the girl uncomfortable. Read the cues, test the waters, and if she is still engaging you without clearly signaling that she's uncomfortable with your advances, it's a pretty clear indicator that you're free to take things to the next level.
Also, a HUGE piece here is self awareness. If you aren't self aware, and aware of her behaviors, wires will get crossed, and you could completely misinterpret the situation and her advances. But that's a discussion for another time...
