I often work with interpreters and it has taught me a few things about my cadence that I try to carry over to my personal life.

There are two types of interpretation: Simultaneous and consecutive. Simultaneous interpretation is when the interpreter is translating to others as you go. In consecutive interpretation the speaker will go on for a couple of minutes at a time and then pause to let the interpreter do their thing.

We work with a handful of trusted interpreters and have built great rapport with them. As such, we try and cooperate with their needs as much as possible, as we see them as part of our team, not just contracted labor. Part of this cooperation is not speed talking. It actually helps to make speeches and other oral communication much more forceful and dramatic since we are talking slow and trying for dramatic, tension increasing pauses.

So try it, pretend you have an interpreter in your next social interaction.
