vvv What do you think about this? vvv
Banish fear… Is it possible? That’s what you see and hear all over the internet. Marketing copies telling you “this one E-book will rid you of your fears FOREVER!” or “This one technique will make you confident”. That’s old school, and people selling that shit are most likely trying to rip you.
There is this line, called the “line of fear”, and it sits right in front of you, wherever you go - it’s always there. But most of us never step over it, and most of us never even notice that it is there. On one side of the line there is comfort, most likely your current, mundane comfort of everyday life: wake up, coffee, work, Netflix, sleep. And on the other side we have all of your desires, opportunities, dreams.
But the sad part of it all is that we never cross this line. We sit, waiting patiently for someone or something to push us over the line, but for most of us no one ever does. We’re afraid to cross because the world on the other side is unknown to us, and might actually challenge some of our current beliefs and even our identity itself.
But to be honest, even if we don’t cross this line life isn’t too bad. We have a stable job, maybe we get lucky and find ourselves a girl who likes us, maybe we end up making a couple of kids, and we live out our life just the way it is. But for some this isn’t an option, for some this way of living it’s suffering, it is death itself.
Let’s not make this too depressing though, let’s get to the practical part.
There is a line that we must step over to get to the other side, we feel this line pressing against us when we are in a situation of the “two worlds” colliding and we must take that step and cross that line. It’s not a difficult action, it’s actually very simple, we just have to begin with a really ‘small’ line. For example we see a cute girl, we know we want to talk to her, but we’ve never spoken to a woman like this before…. so, we must start small.
How about a compliment?
“Hi, I noticed you and you look very nice”
BAM! That’s all, as simple as that. You put your toes in the water, that’s all you need to do at the start. Start with small, and simple actions that introduce you to this unknown reality. And next time maybe you can tell the girl ‘what’ you actually liked about her, and another time maybe you can have a conversation about the weather, on and on. You can do this in an area of your life, break it down to simple actionable steps, and just increase the difficulty a bit at a time.
We must take these little risks, not just once, but many times during the day, to start to step into this unknown reality where all of our dreams and desires await. No longer must we follow in the footsteps of society and it’s muted ways of living. We must standout and do as we desire, otherwise we will end up being just another cog in the machine.
