Hey seddit! So yesterday I made my first approach and I made a few mistakes(I think) maybe you guys can give me some insight and answer my questions.

Scenario: cruising through Walmart I spot a really cute woman browsing around the sunglasses and cards area. We make eye contact, more than once. I go on my way and she goes on here. About 2 minutes later I see her down an isle all by herself and I approach her from behind and ask "hello, mind if I stop you for a second?". First thing is that I startled her and she has one of those comforters in a bag in her hand so she was a little encumbered. She started laughing and smiling immediately like she knew what I was doing. I took the strait forward approach and just went for it when she said "sure". I said "hey, so I stopped you just because I thought you were really pretty and was wondering if I could possible take you out for coffee?" She giggled and said "I'm sorry but I have a boyfriend and he's in the store with my kids". I immediately said that I was sorry and didn't want to be disrespectful. I shook her hand and said "well, I hopefully boosted your ego. Have a nice day!"

I just made up that boosting ego thing on a complete wim and as I was walking away I wondered if it was that was a bad choice of words?

My other thing is how do you people go about approaching in really populated places. I'm always extremely intimidated when I have an audience and don't want to be seen as some "creepy guy" for asking out a girl in the middle of Starbucks. I normally try to wait until they're alone or close to alone and secluded.

Did I do okay? Where can I improve?

Thanks in advance!
