First, date several people. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. Always know that if things don't work with this one, there's another one right around the corner.

Second, always have a plan that makes you happy. For example, I almost always meet girls at a sports bar. This way, if the date isn't going well, I can ask for the tab and walk her out, and either way, I'm still watching the game and having drinks, so my night went well regardless of her.

Create a world in which all the outcomes are good ones. Then you won't be so caught up in what gets lost if one fails, you'll be more interested in what you gain, when a path is chosen.
