That means you should do it.

The things that make you nervous or scared, the things that get your heart pumping are the things you should be doing. They're the things that you're going to learn from, the things that are going to let you know you're still alive.

When I got into seddit I made a rule for myself that whenever there was something I wanted to do that made me nervous or scared, I would have to do that thing. At first it sucked, because I felt like I was being thrown into the deep end. Then it became exhilarating. Then it just became a part of my personality. Now I have a reputation for being a brave person, despite the fact that most of the time I'm still nervous about new experiences.

Knowing the answer (yes or no) is always better than wondering "what if?"

Best case scenario: she says yes and you spend time with someone you like.

Worst case scenario: she says no.

Either way, you're going to know your answer and then you can move on. Plus you'll have more experience asking girls out, and even if she says no you'll still be alive and well. Rejection can seem like the end of the world, it's a bittersweet thing to be rejected and then realize how truly insignificant that fact really is.

You're the only one that can push yourself to do this. Would you rather be the guy that sat around all summer never asking this girl out or would you rather be the guy actually going out with her?

The only difference between those two guys is that one had a moment of fear and pushed through it, while the other ran away.

In the immortal words of grandmaster LaBeaouf: "Just do it."

P.S. If you're putting more thought into this than your schooling, then you have your priorities out of order.
