My opinion on texting is that unless you have game, you should only use it to set in person meetings. If you are wondering if you have game you don't. There are some good reasons why it backfires. Its easy to become boring. Its easy to get caught in the trap of doing it too often. Act like you have something going on in your life. Its easy to worry when she doesn't respond consistently. Or you end up becoming her pen pal because you essentially are dating her over the phone with zero chance for physical escalation. The very act of texting too long without asking her to meet, in and of itself, will friend zone you. So many guys are afraid to be forgotten. If she gave you a legit number, she is not going to forget you. There is more than one way to skin a cat sometimes and text game can work, but conversely so can asking a woman out on a date. Waiting 3-4 days to reach out, setting a date then no contact until the day of, shows confidence that you expect her to show up, that you aren't worried about it, too eager and might even be busy or dating other women. It also shows you are a man of purpose. You are only giving your time and energy to someone who is responsive and willing to meet...actually. I do think text-versation can work, and it may even be useful if initial rapport was only so-so. But in truth its better to build that rapport in person whenever possible. I think there are 3 levels of status with a woman you got a number from, assuming no insta-date or same day pull occured. Uninterested, curious and interested. If interested she will set a date with you without you needing to become her pen pal. If curious she probably will also because if not what is the point? For both! You didn't take her number to be her pen pal and she didn't give you her number to become yours. She gave it to you to you because she wants to see where it goes, or she wanted to shut you up and get you to walk away and leave her be so she capitulated a little. This weeds out the uninterested.
