I M (17) have an event coming up at my school where you bring a date F (17)and everything i think its equivalent to a prom night ohk

So i bought flowers and asked this girl who happens to be president at our school and she said yes. But few weeks down the line i hear that she didn't want to go with me and that she's planning on ditching me. Her closest friend told mw this who also happens to be my friend. So now i see it in her that she has doubts about going with me. This morning i decided to call it off and tell her we not going together anymore before she did i assume

I feel like an idiot cause i asked her out publicly and spent money on flowers and people are gonna think I'm a joke. And its kinda sad pulling up alone at the event.

Do you guys think it was a good idea?
