I've recently gotten out of a long term relationship and just trying to meet new people. I don't think I have a big problem with approaching but it seems as if I have an issue with keeping things going. I find it that my mind runs crazy trying to keep things not awkward and smooth. Is it because I'm thinking too much that's causing my conversations to be like this?

For example last night I ordered some drinks at a restaurant with my friend, these 2 girls were next to us while we were ordering, I said something or the way we acted was just funny so these girl were laughing. I didn't even noticed them until they laughed at my comment. So we started talking to them and they seemed like they enjoyed our presence. After a bit of talking we asked where they were heading to after and they pretty much told us what their plans were. Now if they weren't some what ok with us they wouldn't tell us what's going on right? We proceeded to say maybe we'll meet them there. As we got there they were with other guys but I still talked to one of them. I just had a difficult time keeping things going along because I run out of things to say.

I can't seem to get to the bottom of why this happens and would like some insights from other pov.
