There is a school of thought men in an opening (a set or otherwise) should push the interaction forward until she says no. I feel that is 100% not the case after you have been "validated" as a potential partner, ie have sex, have had a date, or solid plans for a date. Once you are validated, you are "in her phone". At that point, you want to do whatever possible to avoid getting a no.

Here's what I mean...

A mediocre date is one where you have a good time, but there aren't enough sparks on her side for her to immediate go exclusive with you (a courtship or otherwise). That said, the date wasn't so bad it's clear you'll never do anything with her.

Where I used to go wrong is I'd text the girl the next day, or 2 days later, and make it clear I wanted date 2 (or date 1 if it was a hook up). I pushed too hard with most of the girls and got some form of soft or hard rejection precluding dating in the future or a friends with benefits situation.

If you try to go out with her every 2 or 3 days, then she is limited in the number of guys she can see, such as when the Super Bowl is always in Miami or New Orleans. However if you try to go out once a week, every other week, or once a month, then you aren't monopolizing her time. Agreeing to go out with you isn't tying up 30% of nights. In some instances, not texting her again can work the best, even if you want to see her, since (1) you might run into her a bar, (2) she might randomly text you, (3) you might match on a dating app rekindling the spark.

The art is in figuring out a frequency or a lag. It's an art, not a science. The math I'm thinking about it is, go on 1 date a week for 3 months is 10-15 girls. Over the course of a year, that's 40 to 60 girls. If you're young, over 2 or 3 years that's 100-500 girls, not including their friends, sisters, etc.

If you manage to stumble upon 20% again at bars, or if maybe 5% or so text you out of the blue (that's not a great percentage but it gets higher as you get more alpha) then you now have a double digit population of girls comfortable to see you casually. Some may eventually want to get exclusive with you. However, if you push all of them to a no shortly after you meet them, you're limited to the girls you've met or dated recently.

In some respects this is all about maximizing your "outs", predicated on the girl losing interest if you try too hard. Too often it is easy to see girls hooking up with guys, going home with guys, and you assume they just met or she's really really into him. It's entirely possible she's not that into him and that he's known her for a while. Food for thought.
