What are some texting rules?

I typically don't like texting other than a form of communication to meet up with someone. Probably because I use sarcastic jokes and they don't convey through text too well.

If someone has a lot to say, instead of text I'd rather them call me. That's just my say on it

Text only to set up/confirm a date. Maybe a brief exchange on first use of her number, but no full conversations.
