And why are you obsessing over her dude?
Just calm. down.
She's already given you plenty of compliments, so take it, lean back, and play it cool. She already likes you.
And also, just let it simmer for a couple of days. If you back off and give her space, she'll text you back. DO NOT make her the center of your life. Keep living life and she'll be begging to have you part of her life.

I'm just obsessing over not messing this up because I actually really like her, and since she was my best friend for all of middle school we already have that connection. I'll just sit back and live life like you said she'll come around to text me eventually, thanks for the help I appreciate it so much.

You need to see her on the same level as you, or even think shes lucky to be with me. She doesn't text back? Well you were too busy to remember you texted her in the first place.
It's a state of mind and it's quite hard to achieve. Watch a super seminar by Tyler perhaps.
