Perhaps it's the way I look at things, but I often find a quirkiness in my interaction that isn't discussed very much.

I often times find that all the times I've ever gotten a girl, have been on days when getting a girl was the last thing on my mind. I sometimes see this manifest in the phrase 'do not be outcome dependent'. And more often it feels that on the days I ACTIVELY seek to meet women and improve my interactions, or even move forward with a girl that I fall flat on my face. So, with my situation in mind, I ask Seddit this question.

Do you find that you get the best results when you have other priorities eating your attention, or when you go out with the clear intention of meeting women?

As a bonus question, I also find that a common piece of advice is 'focus on improving yourself first, women will eventually be drawn to that.' So, is it actually a waste of time that I allocate a great deal of effort and focus into pick up as opposed to self improvement? I'm really just looking for examples from you all's personal experiences.
